To Endure or To Quit?

To endure or to quit…that is the question. When the word “endurance” is spoken, it can often and immediately elicit a sweat or, at best, a thought similar to, “Oh Lord, what do I have to do?” However, endurance is not always a bad thing. Endurance can also be rewarding if placed in the right perspective.

What makes you say that? I say that because endurance builds strength, determination and patience, just to name a few. And, upon completion, can increase confidence and evoke a positive pride based on accomplishing something that was challenging from the start.

James 5:11 states that those who endure to the end are counted as blessed. Endurance brings about God’s compassion and mercy. And, if you were to study the Book of Job in the Bible, you will also find that it brought about God’s abundant blessings.

Thinking of quitting…don’t. Realize that you are MORE than a conqueror through Christ Remember, He is the one who give you strength. You can do this…just hold on!

Complain, Complain, Complain

Have you ever encountered that person that complains all the time? The person who is so negative that you just don’t want to be in there presence? How do you handle a situation like this? Do you ignore them or do you address them? Do you let their complaining vex your spirit or do you try to lead them in the path of righteousness? In other words do you try to point them on the right road?

One thing about being around a complainer is that we must not judge them, as they are judging. For, in essence, that’s what complaining is. It is judging a situation that does not follow up to your standards. So, immediately, you begin to negative speak against that situation. As a matter of fact, James 5:9 tells us not to complain, particularly against each other, so that we, too, will not be judged. The Judge (which is Christ Jesus) is standing at the door. Therefore, the next time you begin to complain or encounter a complainer, just say, “Stop! Take it up with Jesus!” For, He is the only one that can provide wisdom and direction for any and all situations.

Just Pray About It

Oftentimes, we are asked to do something or help someone and we may have some reserves. This may be due to the fact that we feel overwhelmed or we are tired or we simply just don’t feel like doing it. However, instead of panicking or doing the task begrudgingly, we just need to pray about it. There is no need to waiver or lie if it is something we don’t want to or can’t do. Just pray and ask God for wisdom and direction. James 5:12 tells us to let our yes, be yes and our no, be no. There is no need to cuss or fuss. So, the next time you are torn between and betwixt…just pray about it.
